InterSense VCam Virtual Camera

Showcasing at the upcoming GDC - the InterSense VCam Virtual Camera.

In partnership with The Third Floor (do you know these guys? :) ), combining its patented motion tracking technology (more info here) with virtual production software, InterSense is introducing a new means for film and video game producers to incorporate a hand-held camera into virtual scenes. Peace of cake : the camera man operates the camera as if he was filming from within the scene. Electronics does the rest! Just watch :

Reportedly, the camera was already used by The Third Floor in Beowulf and A Christmas Carol (Robert Zemeckis rules? :) ), as well as in StarCraft II and Diablo III.

Going technical, the camera features the InterSense's MicroTrax 6-DOF motion tracking sensors, with the Autodesk MotionBuilder functions mapped to the camera's interface controls. A 3-axes analog joystick allows manipulating the environment in MotionBuilder. Remote video comes with the package, and wireless options are available.
