Vuzix Augmented Reality Accessory Kit for VR920
Ok, here's THE buzz of the day :
Vuzix has just revealed (news realease in pdf) a consumer-oriented augmented reality video eyewear. In fact, what's new is an addon for their already existing VR920 headset, consisting of :
- an USB clip-on camera, or CamAR, that mounts onto the headset. Filming the world in front of the user, it allows for the software to superpose virtual objects on top of the real environment images.
- a wireless input controller, PhasAR, with a six degree of freedom tracking system. It pairs with the camera to provide a powerful tool for interacting with the applications.

The news came along with four demos developed by Metaio (video here).
Vuzix expects the products (CamAR and PhasAR) to retail for under $100 each, and is planning to start pushing it to developers within 30 days.
