Virtual Pamplona bull run to lower number of victims
Since Hemingway's 'The Sun Also Rises' gave it the best publicity it could dream of, the annual Pamplona Bull Run grew to be probably one of the most exciting (and uselessly dangerous) events in the world. Dozens of people get hospitalized each year, and number of victims since the records exist is 14 (far too high!). Here is another way virtual reality can save lives :
Proevent, a Spanish firm working in the domain of high-tech development for event organization, proposed a virtual Pamplona bull run, allowing all those who so eagerly want to participate but fear to overestimate their forces to get a thrill without putting their lives in risk. They have created a virtual Pamplona, using 7000 photos of the town to texture every building along the one mile course. You can get inside and join 150 runners chased by 6 bulls and followed with attention by more than 30,000 spectators. Add a headset and a special treadmill to make you sweat - enough to give you the taste of the atmosphere, according to the creators.
The prototype has been set up in a square in Pamplona. Don't miss it if you're passing by!
